Hernias are a common condition that affect more than 200,000 people in the United States each year. The good news is there’s a fix for it! In this episode of Knoxville Medicine’s Doc Talk, host Rob Page, MD, talks with General Surgeon Michael Antiporda, MD of Premier Surgical about the various Hernia treatments. Untreated hernias can not only be painful, but they can later cause complications.

Dr. Antiporda narrates a paraesophageal hernia repair with Toupet fundoplication performed with the da Vinci Xi robotic surgery system.

Dr. Antiporda installs a LINX devise to control acid reflux. The LINX device is made of magnetic titanium beads that are surgically installed around the lower end of the esophagus.

Gastroparesis Enterra Therapy

Gastroparesis is a digestive condition that slows or stops the emptying of food from your stomach into the small intestine. Symptoms may include pain and nausea after eating, weight loss and bloating.

The Enterra system is a gastric electrical stiulation (GES) device designed to relieve nausea and vomiting associated with gastroparesis. The small neurostimulator is implanted under the skin and adjusted with a handheld programming controller.
