Josh Hamilton, MD, MPH, FACS

Dr. Josh Hamilton is a general surgeon with Premier Surgical Associates in North Knoxville, TN. Dr. Hamilton, a native Texan, has practiced medicine in both Texas and Arizona. A primary clinical interest of his is the treatment of breast cancer. A Colectomy is a surgery to remove part of all of the colon. It may be performed for patients with a colon cancer, Crohn’s Disease, diverticulitis or other conditions. Here’s an inside view as Dr. Harrell performs a robotic Sigmoid Colectomy using the da Vinci surgical system by Intuitive.
Nissen fundoplication is a surgical procedure to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and hiatal hernia. In this procedure, the surgeon wraps the top of the stomach around the lower esophagus. This reinforces the lower esophageal sphincter, making it less likely that acid will back up in the esophagus. In this video Dr. Harrell performs a robotic nissen fundoplictaion using the daVinci Xi system. Click box to view.

Dr. David Schutter is a board-certified general surgeon with the Premier Surgical office in North Knoxville. Recognized as one of the “Top Docs” by Knoxville’s Cityview magazine, Dr. Schutter has specialized training and expertise in treating Foregut conditions, Colon, biliary, adrenal, spleen, gastric, rectal, hernia, abdominal wall reconstruction, and other General Surgical conditions via robotic and laparoscopic technologies. He performs surgeries at North Knoxville Medical Center and Premier Surgery Center.

Dr. Schutter graduated from the University of Nebraska with a B.S. in Psychology and Biochemistry and then the University of Kansas School of Medicine for medical school. He completed his residency in general surgery at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine. He then went on to complete a Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowship specializing in Advanced GI surgery including robotic and laparoscopic foregut, colon, adrenal, gastric, kidney, biliary, complex abdominal wall reconstruction, and general surgery in Tacoma, Washington. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Schutter joined Premier Surgical Associates in 2020.
