General surgeons perform procedures to treat a wide range of common conditions and diseases of the body, especially in the torso region. They are responsible for management of their patient’s care before, during and after surgery. Premier Surgical’s surgeons are all certified by the American Board of Surgery.

LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY

General surgery procedures are open performed laparoscopically, using small incisions and a lighted camera tube (laparoscope) to view the organs. This minimally-invasive approach often means less pain and a quicker recovery time for patients. Approximately 90 percent of cholecystecomies (gallbladder removals) in the United states are performed laparoscopically.

If a patient is not a candidate for minimally invasive surgery, an open or “traditional” approach with a scalpel may be used. The type of technique used depends factors including the physical condition of the patient, and the location and size of the surgery site.
